Spiritual Climate

Latvia has a more spiritual than agnostic culture, shaped by Lutheran heritage, Russian Orthodox influence, and a small but meaningful evangelical presence. Latvia is a safe and affordable Northern European nation marked by reserved culture, long winters, artistic interest, and ongoing tension with Russia. GEM partners with Baptist churches and serves through a range of ministries, including prosthetic limb care among refugees, mentoring Latvian church leaders, and international church ministry.

Workers are also involved with the Latvian Christian Alliance for Orphans, helping strengthen local believers and serve vulnerable communities. Through church partnerships, leadership development, refugee care, and English-language ministry, GEM is helping support faithful witness in a spiritually open but relationally reserved culture.
