Four days experiencing the ministries and meeting the missionaries of GEM.

2024 President's Congress

"I am so excited to welcome you to Rome, one of my favorite cities, for three days of sharing, learning, prayer, bonding, new experiences, and fun. I hope you know how thrilled we are that you are considering joining us for this very special time.

We hope as you learn about what God is doing in Europe at large, but especially Italy specifically, you will join us in prayer and support for disciples to be made and churches planted to see God expand His kingdom through all peoples of Europe to the world."

Accommodations in Rome

We will be staying at the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel.

Immerse yourself in the splendour of ancient Rome in a crescent-shaped palazzo fronting the Piazza della Repubblica.

Anantara Palazzo Naiadi showcases a uniquely storied history, with 19th-century marble architecture and meeting rooms suspended over the ruins of the Baths of Diocletian.

Our palatial hotel also boasts one of the most enviable locations in the city centre, with iconic sites such as the Fori Imperiali, Via Veneto, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps all within walking distance.

Meet the Missionaries

Joel and Malory Lunetta

Joel and Mallory landed in an area of Rome called Furio Camillo. Since landing they have acquired language skills, started a house church and two Bible studies, had two sons, and continue to seek God's will for their neighborhood.

They also use their skills and credentials in personal training and interior design to impact the relationships they have cultivated.

Jesse and Monica Pauly

Jesse is the GEM Field Leader for Italy. While partnering with local missionaries and pastors, the Paulys are helping to plant simple churches throughout the city.

In their local neighborhood, they work alongside others to do various outreach events and prayer walks to sow seeds of the Gospel. The hope is to see a church planted in their neighborhood.

Nick and Alyx Scholl

We are Nick and Alyx Scholl, and we serve in Rome, Italy with GEM alongside our almost 3 year old, Emily, and our new arrival this March, Levi. We use relational and family ministry through mediums like rugby, volleyball, English conversation groups, art ministry, prayer walking and house church planting in our neighborhood of Villa Gordiani.

Building relationships is key to reaching the hearts of Italians, refugees, and anyone else we encounter, and so much of our daily ministry consists of building friendships with neighbors and locals alike. Our goal is to start/continue discipleship groups that disciple new believers in their faith. These groups prayerfully will form a church that will be locally/Italian led. We merely want to share the hope of Jesus Christ through everyday life in a city that desperately needs the hope and light of the gospel. God is moving and working in Rome, and we are thrilled to be called here to be the hands and feet of Christ!

God bless,
Nick, Alyx, Emily & Levi

Matteo and Crystal Scamporlino

We are Matteo and Crystal Scamporlino! We have a two year old daughter named Sole (which means Sun in Italian). We are church planters in Frascati, Italy a small town right outside of Rome. We just planted our first church called Chiesa Cristiana Vittoria. We want to see Italians have a vibrant relationship with Jesus through a deep understanding of the Word and experiencing the Holy Spirit in their daily lives.

We feel called to teach the Word and make disciples who make other disciples. Our prayer is in everything that we do; that people are being trained, developed, and sent sharing the Gospel wherever they go! As a professionally trained music therapist from Atlanta (Crystal) and Matteo (an Italian born and raised in Rome) who has been a musician for more than 13 years, we plan to use the gift of music as a way to cultivate an Italian worship culture. Our hope is to create a space for believers to worship freely, the Italian way, and to initiate a deeper knowledge of the gospel through that music.

We can’t wait to see how God continues to use our passions for music, discipleship, and creativity in reaching the next generation of Italians and all those living in Frascati.

In Christ,
Crystal and Matteo
