Our Story
Juan and Anna each accepted Christ as their Savior as children after hearing the Gospel shared on the streets of their city. Little did they know then how God would use that simple encounter to shape the direction of their lives.
L’Arcada has been part of their family’s story for many years. Before joining the leadership team, Juan and Anna served at the camp as volunteers for more than 20 years, and their three children, Loida, Jonatan, and Xenia, all grew up attending L’Arcada as campers.
In October 2021, after prayerfully considering the invitation from L’Arcada’s Board, Anna stepped into the role of Director and Juan became Assistant Director. They believed God was calling them to serve the ministry in a new way and to help lead L’Arcada into its next chapter. Today, they are grateful for the privilege of investing their lives in a ministry that has impacted their own family and continues to point children, youth, and families to Christ.
Where We Work
Camp L’Arcada is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Girona, northeastern Spain. Spain is a country where many people have little or no personal exposure to the Gospel, and 60–70% of the children and youth who attend our camps come from non-Christian homes. For many, L’Arcada is one of the first places where they have the opportunity to clearly hear the message of Jesus.
Our ministry has three main areas of focus. First, evangelism: creating an environment where children, youth, and families can hear the Gospel and experience the love of Christ in a personal and meaningful way. Second, discipleship: investing in the young adults and volunteers who serve at camp, helping them grow spiritually and equipping them to serve Christ more effectively. Third, strengthening the local church: many of the young people who have been discipled and trained at L’Arcada have gone on to serve and lead in churches and ministries throughout Spain.
Camp provides a unique environment for all of this to happen. Through relationships, service, teaching, adventure, conversations, and simply sharing life together, people have opportunities to encounter Christ and take meaningful steps of faith.
For us, it is an incredible privilege to see God use L’Arcada not only to impact individual lives, but also to raise up a new generation of followers and leaders for His Church in Spain. What an amazing opportunity God has given us!
