Noah and Lucia Johnson

Slovakia

Our Story

Noah first felt the calling to Slovakia in 2001 after his first trip to serve in a summer English camp. He has been living in Slovakia since 2004 partnering with the local Baptist church and serving in everything from youth outreach, leading bible studies, discipleship, circuit preaching, as an elder, and pioneering new communities to reach the lost. Lucia grew up in Slovakia and has a heart for the poor and marginalized which led her to get her master's degree in social work and she has spent years working in her field. They married in 2009 and have two children Matúš (13) and Liana (5). They are currently building authentic relationships with the unchurched and de-churched in their community, sharing the love of Christ with them, and are hoping to plant a church for those who are uninterested in an institutional church but are curious about Jesus.

Where We Work

Lučenec Slovakia is a small town of about 30,000 people located in the central south of Slovakia. It’s a nice town that suffers from high unemployment, corruption, and a small evangelical witness. In a recent survey out of the 30,000 inhabitants there are less than 300 evangelical believers and over 5,000 people who claim to be atheists. Lucia and Noah are focusing on the 30-50 year olds building relationships, opening their home for BBQ’s and gatherings, sharing the good news of Jesus, and reading the bible with those who are interested in knowing more about Jesus.
