Our Story
From living in the Sunshine State to serving in the Land of the Midnight Sun, I have learned that "my God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge" (2 Samuel 22:3a). Since I was a teenager I have felt His call to share the Hope of Christ with those who've never heard. Hooman was led to Greece through intense suffering in his country, but found hope in Christ and a desire to serve others who are looking for peace. The current refugee crisis in Europe has developed into an incredible opportunity to minister to both refugees and local Greeks. The needs are great but our God is greater, and we are excited to share the Refuge of Christ with those who greatly need Him.
Where We Work
We are located in a southern suburb of Athens, working alongside the Greek church in local ministry and evangelism, as well as a refugee integration program. Hooman and I both serve as church ministry staff, participate in the worship team, and help with outreaches in our Greek church. Less than 1% of Greeks have a personal relationship with Jesus. We are also the coordinators of the At Home Project for refugees. There are thousands of refugees in Greece awaiting documents or trying to forge new futures. Hooman does translation in Farsi, discipleship and Bible study, and building maintenance for our house. In addition, he has just started an MDiv program. I oversee the day-to-day projects, monthly events, and the processing of families in the program. I am continuing to serve as GEM Greece's field leader, overseeing the rest of our missionaries in Greece. Together, our vision is to see both the physical and spiritual needs of these communities met in a way that bridges the gaps between different peoples in service to Christ's kingdom.
