My Story
My call to missions began in university, when I met a student from China named Wendy. After I shared the gospel with her, she said something I’ll never forget: “I wish I had heard of Jesus sooner—this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.” That moment planted a deep desire in me to see the name of Jesus made known around the world.
Since then, I’ve spent the past fourteen years serving in full-time ministry. I began by leading a team reaching youth and university students in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After a decade there, God opened the door for me to step into leadership, as the Chief Operating Officer for GEM UK, supporting a growing network of over 90 missionaries. However, now my role is transitioning into the Chief of Staff for GEM UK.
Where I Work
Originally from the USA, I now live in Brighton, UK, with my British husband, Reece Gates. I moved to Brighton because my heart ached for the reality of the city. Brighton is located one hour south of London along the coast, with a population of around 300,000. Recently, it was named "the most Godless city in the UK." Practices like witchcraft, tarot card reading, and other spiritual practices are common. The city also has the third-largest homeless population in the country, and one in three adults are actively using illegal drugs.
Previously I was the Chief Operating Officer for GEM UK, overseeing HR and personnel management. Now I step into a new role as Chief of Staff for GEM UK, where I’ll have the opportunity to help strengthen and grow our movement in several key areas:
* Mobilising more missionaries across the UK and Europe
* Planting more churches and disciple-making communities
* Enhancing pastoral care and training for our field workers
This new season is an exciting one—not just for me, but for the gospel’s reach across Europe. While I once had the joy of sharing Christ with 15 or more new people weekly, I now get to support 90+ missionaries who each reach 15 or more new people every week across 8 different countries. That’s the beauty of multiplication.
Beyond my operational role, I have a deep compassion for the poor, vulnerable and lost. Some of my ministry activities include volunteering locally at a food bank and mentoring young believers, which allows me to build deeper relationships for evangelism.
I’d be honoured to connect with you personally and share more about what God is doing through GEM UK, and how you might consider partnering with me through prayer and financial support.
