Seeking Refuge and Hope in Athens
After losing his brother to the war in Syria, Ahmad fled to Athens, Greece for safety. Hungry, homeless, and hopeless, Ahmad battled depression and the temptation to turn to drugs for relief. While sitting in a park one day, his attention was drawn to a group of Christians playing music and singing. Several of them approached Ahmad and invited him to a Christmas program at their center.

Europe may be filled with historic churches and cathedrals, but spiritual life is largely absent. A once “reached” Europe has become “unreached” over time. What Europe once knew regarding Jesus and the gospel has, over time, been forgotten—and many Europeans may never meet a Christ-follower or hear the gospel personally.
