Our Story
Greg and Debby were married in 1990 with hopes of living in Austria and travelling into Communist countries to mentor pastors through Biblical / theological education by extension. Glasnost and Perestroika allowed their hopes to be exceeded, and they became one of the first missionaries placed into the former Soviet Union with Greater Europe Mission. They moved to Odesa, Ukraine in 1993. For two terms they served at the Odesa Theological Seminary where Greg taught Church History and theology in addition to mentoring students to become pastors through weekly ministry trips.
In 2003 they moved to Prague, Czech Republic to work with the International Baptist Theological Seminary. Greg served as a lecturer in the Baptist and Anabaptist Department and as chaplain. Debby uses her musical skills to lead worship and mentors many of the students. Once Greg finished his PhD in 2010, he served as a Strategy Leader supervising many of the country leaders across Europe. The Nichols are endeavoring to build up the body of Christ in Europe through discipleship in local churches so that God's kingdom is expanded through Europe - to all the world.
Where We Work
Greg and Debby are based in Prague, Czech Republic. Greg works with GEM’s Leader Development department training and coaching leaders inside and outside of GEM. As a Spiritual Director, Debby mentors many women and is on the leadership team of Sela Austria, the first training program in Austria for Spiritual Directors. In 2015, Debby started ministering to refugees. In 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, Greg and Debby got more involved with the Ukrainians refugees entering Prague. Through many evangelistic events and ongoing aid, they have helped plant the Ukrainian Bible Church in Prague. Both their children have moved to the USA; Nic is a Paramedic/Firefighter in Illinois and Selina is completing her master’s degree in Northern California.
