Bulgaria has a strong Orthodox Christian identity, though many people remain disconnected from active faith and discipleship. Evangelicals represent a small minority, and new believers often need encouragement, training, and support as they grow. While spiritual confusion and occult practices remain common, opportunities for Gospel witness continue to open through relationships, local churches, schools, and community-based ministry.

Bulgaria is a warm and hospitable nation where relationships often develop through patience, flexibility, and long-term presence. GEM workers serve in Sofia through evangelism, discipleship groups, children’s ministry, Moms in Prayer, and partnerships with Ten2 and Exponential Europe. In Ruse, ministry includes teaching religious education in primary and secondary schools.

Across the country, there is a significant need for discipleship, biblical training, and support for new believers. Through local partnerships and community engagement, GEM is helping strengthen churches, encourage spiritual growth, and create new opportunities for Gospel-centered ministry.
