Spiritual Climate
Malta is deeply shaped by Roman Catholic identity, with evangelical believers representing less than two percent of the population. Many people do not recognize evangelicals as true Christians, creating challenges for Gospel witness and church partnership. Yet a few small evangelical churches are beginning to look outward and work together, creating meaningful opportunities for encouragement, discipleship, evangelism, and faithful presence.
Ministry Snapshot
Malta is a small, urbanized Mediterranean island where family, tourism, and community life play a central role. Most people live near the capital city, which includes a large university, hospital, and public transportation system. More than twenty percent of the population are immigrants, while refugee communities often live outside the city.
GEM is currently establishing ministries in Malta, and opportunities are emerging for workers to serve through university outreach, evangelism, discipleship, refugee ministry, church support, and future church planting in partnership with local believers.
