Greece is deeply shaped by Greek Orthodox identity, where faith, culture, family, and national heritage are closely connected. While Orthodoxy remains influential in public life, many younger Greeks are personally apathetic toward religion. Evangelicals are a very small minority, and those who leave Orthodoxy may be viewed with suspicion. Yet opportunities remain for patient discipleship, Gospel witness, and faithful local partnerships.
Ministry Snapshot
Greece is a warm and hospitable nation with deep spiritual history and complex cultural realities. GEM has served in Greece for more than 50 years and helped establish the Greek Bible College, where some GEM staff continue to serve. Today, missionaries are involved in church planting, discipleship, refugee ministry, Bible teaching, worship and arts, children’s ministry, short-term service coordination, and ministry among vulnerable women.
Through long-term presence and partnership with local believers, GEM workers are helping strengthen churches, equip disciples, and share the hope of Christ in communities where evangelical witness remains small.

Refugee & Multilingual Ministry
Serve among refugees and immigrant communities using languages such as Greek, Farsi, Dari, Arabic, French, Romanian, and other regional languages.
Ministry Support & Coordination
Support field staff and local ministries through administration, pastoral care, ESL, short-term service coordination, and partnership engagement.
