Serving the Forgotten through Prosthetic Ministry in Latvia
Dance was a big part of Dina’s life, and she was good at it. When she suffered a leg injury, the doctors found that it was much more and discovered bone cancer in Dina’s leg.
After amputation, she felt like a prisoner. The prosthetic was painful to use, and social acceptance was even worse. People would change seats on public transport rather than sit near her and strangers would make comments about her walking.
Rather than giving up, these things fueled Dina’s desire for change. She desired to see Latvians accept people like herself and so she began her studies to become a doctor. In university, she met Katie, a GEM missionary serving in Latvia. Katie began intentionally discipling Dina and together they now work to bring physical and spiritual transformation to the people of Latvia through developing new prosthetic technology.
