Fatima had only recently come to Christ, but when her church held an evangelism event, she decided to take part. On one level, she knew this would be a good opportunity to learn how to share her testimony. On another level, she felt nervous as she stood in the train station, handing out gospel tracts. If people just pass me by, she thought, that will be okay. I don’t really know what to say anyway.
After sitting on the long beige couch for an hour, it was almost time to leave Amira’s house. My two-year-old had begun walking along the back of the couch, jumping off the arm, and asking for a fifth pack of the little biscuits I had been using to distract him. After a busy time of healing, doing miracles and losing a close friend, Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s go off by ourselves and get some rest” (Mark 6:31). If Jesus, who was fully man but also fully God, needed to rest, why is it so hard for humans to answer His call to come away?
