gem Refuge
Greece fell into the role of being a rescue country for refugees as people started washing up on their shores after perilous journeys across waters to
escape immediate danger at home. Overwhelming numbers of people continue to deplete resources that Greece doesn’t have. Many Greeks are reacting with
grace, but need more hands, and people to come along side them and show them how the unconditional love of Christ acts as they start to become weary.
Though some refugees are being sent back to Turkey, many are left in this fragile country seeking grace and understanding as they continue their journey
to find a new home. Displaced, tired, and traumatized, they just want to feel safe and cared for. If you have a heart for the refugees escaping to
Europe, come be a part of GEM’s effort to help them survive and share the Lord’s love for them. Show both Greeks and refugees that they are not alone.
GEM has chosen Athens as our first “gateway city” to serve in. With missionaries already working, and teams growing, the foundations are laid
and more hands are needed. The refugee situation is extremely fluid and all interns will need to be flexible and be willing “follow the work” to other
places in Greece. Inquire today about how you can help care for refugees in Greece.
Short-Term Service is a program that allows individuals or couples to serve alongside our long-term missionaries in Europe and experience what life is like involved in ministry and discipleship on the mission field for 1 to 11 months at a time.
