Our Story
Matt grew up in southern, California in a Christian home. In 1998 he went on a mission trip to Spain which was the beginning of the long journey leading to fulltime missions. In preparation to become a missionary he spent a year in Sweden, attending a Bible School where he met Esther. Esther grew up in a Christian home in The Netherlands. After she finished Teacher Training she went to the Torchbearer Bible School in Sweden. Here she grew in her personal relationship with Christ and felt called to the mission field. We got married in 2003 and lived in California for three years before moving to Germany in 2007 to start our ministry. We have three daughters: Leah, born in 2008, Eva, born in 2013, and Nora, born in 2017.
Where We Work
We have served with GEMTeams since 2007 and have led volunteer teams to serve alongside a variety of local ministries in more than 10 countries across Europe. Matt recruits, plans, and leads construction-, outreach-, and refugee teams. Esther is active in her local church, serves the GEM kids during First Termers Retreats, and leads Transition groups in a local school.
