‘When Cultures Collide: Leading Across Cultures’ lists some of the following among Latvian cultural values: honesty and loyalty, arts, entrepreneurship,
respect for nature, and family! In Riga, the beautiful capitol of Latvia, you will find picturesque parks, a huge range of coffee shops and restaurants
and incredible cultural events!
Latvians are very “spiritually” minded people yet they find pinning that down to concrete ideas more challenging. Yet this spiritual mindfulness invites
opportunities for meaningful dialogue and opens many doors for various ministries! There is also a refreshing unity among the different denominations
across the nation.
You will serve alongside The Bourbeau’s and the Sandberg’s! Jonathan and Deborah Bourbeau help individuals, families, leaders, churches and organizations
reach their God-given potential. They do this by providing a safe environment where people can receive God’s grace, break free from bondages and grow
in their gifts. Their main ministry is coaching and mentoring church planters, pastors, Christian leaders, boards and organizations as well as providing
prayer counseling and spiritual life retreats.
Mark and Vesma Sandberg serve in more institutional settings. Vesma, in addition to her work as a translator, is a founder and leader in the Latvian Christian
Alliance for Orphans (www.palidzibareniem.lv), especially involved in training both church, government, and educational leaders in working with traumatized
children. Mark pastors Communitas International Church (www.communitas.lv) and also has teaching roles at the
Latvian Biblical Center (www.bible.lv) and the Baltic Pastoral Institute (www.bpiriga.lv).
