Making Disciples
GEM seeks people willing to live a lifestyle of discipleship by developing relationships. Missionaries must be involved in people's lives so they might bring a glimpse of God into everyday situations. While this can happen through Bible studies or small-group meetings, it can be as simple as regularly interacting with the clerk at the local café.
Discipleship can happen at any point in a person’s spiritual journey—from “pre-conversion” to death—as a person studies and discusses Scripture and obeys what he or she learns. Missionaries must intentionally provide opportunities and guidance toward this type of lifestyle.
Regardless of our “day job,” the highest goal for Christ-followers is to disciple people around us. You may serve as a computer programmer, professor, or church planter, but discipleship through personal relationships will be at the heart of your calling.
