Many Maltese see the evangelical church as a sect, so individuals face stress and relational tension when they decide to join a fellowship. But recently, consistent ministry efforts and the changing culture have created more awareness of the evangelical church. People have started to follow Jesus after getting to know Christ followers, exploring spiritual questions, and reading the Bible. With the start of the Evangelical Alliance in 2008, there is new hope for the evangelical community to cooperate and speak with one voice. God is doing a new work in Malta, and Christians attribute it to the prayers of people around the world.
Continued spiritual transformation among the Maltese will depend on the development of faithful, creative leaders. With the economy becoming more technology based—and headed toward being a Mediterranean hub for technology and media industries—believers need to recognize and respond to related ministry opportunities. People interested in doing outreach through technology
have a great opportunity to plug into this forming community. Youth ministry in Malta also has room to grow, especially within subcultures. North Americans
could explore serving among gamers, footballers, skaters, musicians, and artists. Anyone can get involved now by praying for a specific Maltese town or village.
