I Have Prayed
Romania
Romania Capital: Bucharest
Border Countries: Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova. Bulgaria
Romania is coming to grips with its place in the new world. Spectacular medieval castles and villages contrast with exotic sports cars and satellite TV. A former communist country, Romania has embraced the possibilities of a lucrative future by joining NATO and the European Union. Though the Gospel has taken hold in some regions of Romania, millions still are without a Gospel-preaching fellowship. Like other Eastern Europeans, many Romanians believe that they are Christians merely because they were born in Romania. To be Romanian is to be Orthodox. Eighty-six percent of Romanians consider themselves Orthodox Christians, but most have never heard the truth of Christ's claims or the offer of a personal relationship with God.

The Mission Torch project (2007-2010) is sharing the vision of missions and the impact that Europe can have in taking the Gospel to the world. This project, under the leadership of Cornel Boingeanu, a pastor in Bucharest, seeks to reignite the flame of faith and pass the vision for missions to the countries and churches of Europe. Through this work, God has drawn many into a deeper and more transformational walk with Him. The prayer is that the Lord would raise up many thousands of Europeans from Romania to take the Gospel to people groups living in countries closed to the Gospel.
The Balkan Region stands as a gateway between post-Christian Western Europe and the unreached Eastern nations. Already, more than 100 Romanians have served on short- and long-term missions assignments outside their country. Believers from the Balkan Region have access to countries that few North Americans can enter.
  1. Pray that church-planting efforts in the strategic nations of the Balkan Peninsula will have an incredible impact on the world for Christ.
  2. Pray for the growing missions movement in Romania and countries of the Balkan Peninsula as brothers and sisters in the Lord gain a vision for how God wants to use them in cross-cultural missions.
